Are juvenile court convictions expunged in Rhode Island?

Unlike many states, Rhode Island does not have regulations specifically related to expungement of juvenile criminal records. Like people of all ages, offenders under the age of 18 can be eligible for expungement if they were first-time offenders, were not convicted of a violent crime, and have waited five years after a misdemeanor or ten years after a felony.

The exception to this rule is with convictions related to underage possession of alcohol if the defendant was between the ages of 18 and 21. These convictions can sometimes be expunged without completing the usual wait period.

Don't let mistakes you made in your youth follow you for the rest of your life. Contact Rhode Island juvenile offense expungement lawyer James Powderly at 401-662-9006.
